I am building a backyard campfire for tonight's planned meteor shower viewing party with family. I decided to try taking a picture of the fire using auto settings (top) and HDR (bottom). Both are taken with my tired old smartphone.
The HDR processing combined the rolling shutter makes a strange flame effect. It didn't seem to handle the dramatic lighting difference very well, though.
I was planning to paint more tonight, but I am in a bit too much pain to focus on hobbies. I went for a short (2 mile?) bike ride with The Mother Thing. It didn't help my back relax, but it didn't make it worse either, so there's that. The sudden cold compared to recent weather seems to have made everything tense up, and between the 2007 forklift collision and being rear-ended in Spokane in 2012, it's just how things are now.
