Hello Everyone!
Writing about writing, Ideas tossed into the wild, Reward Pool reflections & The significance of Hive morale!
Alright, it is that time again to write something different and mayhaps continue my work on this series. So far the entries have covered a broad range of topics... and I think I like that things have worked out that way even if it was not exactly intentional on my part.
This series did begin as a way for me to break away from my other series... and have some place to put the 'extra' things that just do not fit within the context of the main series. As far as said 'context' goes I think that I already 'stretch' the subject matter of 'homesteading' about as far as I can... and squeezing even more into it all (especially my more moody musings) just does not seem all that wise... unless of course my 'intent' is to make things more convoluted than they already are!
Telling the ongoing story of my daily experiences is by now a rather natural thing for me to do... and although I love doing it... it is also like its own vast sprawling 'landscape' with too many internal references... and branching explanations that it is best to leave it be... unless I am actively working on it. Hence these entries and those other more technological entries that I have been making lately... seem like the natural progression of things... or at the bare minimum... avenues worth exploring.
When it comes to the technological stuff it gets pretty wacky (even for me) because most of the time it takes writing out something that details my thoughts... and the application that I see for a technology... or how I have applied (or want to apply) a technology. Given the large gaps in my knowledge base I tend to just spell things out the best that I can... and hope that others can see a use for any of it... whether it be the code itself, an idea, a method for doing something... or some combination of those things.
Well, I trailed off there a few days ago and never added anything else to this entry... so I best dive back in here and see what else that I can spell out. I should wrap up that last paragraph though... by saying that sharing my various coding projects is much like sharing my writings... I am going to 'toss them into the wild' and see what happens from there... without a bunch of anxiety (or the need for some kind of return) mucking up the process.
Anyways, there is another one of those Hive 'Town Hall' meetings going on right now and yet again they are being done on Web2. I kind of wish that I could 'tune out' to all that stuff until they are hosted on chain... but the subject matter being discussed sort of dictates that I stay tuned in to what is being espoused.
The other part of all that... that rubs me the wrong way... is how there are a handful of folks who have somehow bestowed it upon themselves to be the 'broader' voice of the Hive community. Which is fine and all given Hive's open nature... but when the voices are predominantly large stake holders... that could potentially have things to gain by either shifting public opinion, altering blockchain mechanics, public 'policy' or some combination of those things... I just have to ask what the motivation behind it all is.
To be clear here I definitely tend to believe that folks are generally well-intending... that said though I also know that there are damn good reasons to maintain a certain level of 'suspicion' (and clinical inspection) when large sums of money are involved. Even with all the 'suspicion' aside there is also the fact that 'intending actions' can have unintended consequences no matter how 'good' someone's intentions are.
Currently the big discussion seems to be about the Reward Pool and possibly dissolving it... which to be completely candorous... doing so would prove to be a fatal blow to Hive by shattering the morale of the larger community. It would also put everyone who has proselytized Hive and how it works in a very awkward position of backtracking on Hive's main selling point... that actions have value and mainly so via the Reward Pool.
Honestly, I know that I do not have it in me to 'switch on a dime' in that regard... and would feel like quite the hypocrite for having been so steadfast in my beliefs about Hive... and openly sharing them over the years. In simpler terms: Removing the mechanism that has made Hive worth proselytizing for would be downright shameful... and it would be the equivalent of an 'ideological rug pull' that would be the ruin of Hive either in the short term, the long term or both.
All of which makes me wonder if the whole 'Removal of the Reward Pool' thing is being tossed around merely as a distraction... whilst some unknown ulterior motive is quietly fulfilled. Of course that sounds 'paranoid' (and to some degree it assuredly is) but I think that when 'outlandish ideas' gain traction... it is well worth looking around at 'what else might be going on' that is not quite so front and center in the scenario.
To be completely clear here, I do not actually like having to think in those terms... but throughout the course of my life I have absolutely learned to 'look a little deeper' into damn near everything. Which you would think would be sufficient... but once I have taken said 'deeper look' I like to take 'ten steps back' in an effort to grasp the larger picture... and if possible... see how one thing relates to another.
In the current situation with the Reward Pool... I am not saying that anyone has nefarious intent... or that anyone is intentionally trying to distract folks from 'secret agendas' but it sure is worth looking for such intent... whether it be intentional or unintentional. To do otherwise would just be negligent... and given how such behavior is second nature to me... I know better than to get all 'hyper-personal' about it all... and approach things with as much of a 'level head' as I can muster.
Okay, I think that I am going to call this entry 'good enough' and get it all edited and posted. I think that the Web2 'Town Hall' is still ongoing at the moment... and hopefully it is made available 'on chain' sooner than the last one was... because I am incredibly interested in not only what gets discussed... but how it gets discussed.
I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.
Thanks for reading!
