One of the first things we hear when we arrive on the Hive blockchain is to show up every day. Well, that is if you would like to see any results though.
The second thing we hear is to create content, curate content, and engage. And in all of this...be consistent.
Well, today I almost want to stick out my neck a bit and say the following...
- Show up every day.
- Engage and be consistent with it.
If we only do those two things, we will see results...
This morning, as I was sitting here, getting ready for the day ahead of me, I was thinking about my activities and what happened over the last couple of weeks.
To summarise I can say this;
- I started creating more content.
- I started doing more comments.
- I upvoted more people's work.
- I started having actual conversations.
These are all based on activities.
And results?
- I got involved and became active in other communities too.
- I am actively building on some good relationships.
- And yes, I even see positive results in my income potential as well.
- Through engaging and having conversations, I have learned new things.
This is just a quick summary, but in short, it leads me to the following conclusion:
It all comes down to showing up every day and engaging.
Yes, engaging.
Well, what about creating new content?
Good question. I'm glad you asked.
When thinking about this, I decided to learn more about the meaning of the word "engage".
I did an online search (using PRESEARCH of course) and the following two results were the best description in my opinion.
- Definitions.net says the following:
Carry out or participate in an activity; be involved in
- Collinsdictionary.com says the following:
If you engage in an activity, you do it or are actively involved with it.
Looking at it from that perspective, all our activities on the Hive blockchain are based on engaging.
By creating your own content, you are actually trying to start a conversation. You want people to respond to you and then you reply back to them... It becomes a conversation.
If you didn't create content of your own, you listen to someone else's content (by reading content or watching a video) and you respond in the form of leaving comments. It's the same thing. A conversation is started.
In other words, whether you start the conversation by creating new content, or whether you are commenting on someone else's content, you are engaging in a conversation.
An Important Principle For Any Conversation To Be Successful.
For any conversation to be successful, it must be "two-way" communication.
A one-way conversation becomes a news bulletin.
You don't start a conversation and then just walk away. You expect the other party to respond to what you have said...aren't you?
So, when someone does respond (in the form of a comment), reply to that comment. Or at least acknowledge the comment in some way.
At the same time, we can't just expect other people to listen to us all the time, without listening to what they have to say too.
In other words, see who the people are who are reaching out to you. Who is communicating with you? Then visit their blogs too to see what they have to say.
Conclusion
So in short I would say it comes down to the following:
Show up and engage. And do it consistently, every day.
And you cannot engage if you don't show up.
