It's funny how most people say, 'Do what you want to do. Others' opinions don't matter as long as you are happy and content with what you do.' Because if that is the case, why do they feel annoyed when someone opposes their idea?

For example, let's say you like wearing a jacket, even though you live in a tropical country with hot weather. You don't care if you sweat as long as you feel like you're in trend. Then, other people will tell you not to wear a jacket because it's hot.
Now, after hearing their opinion, even though you like wearing a jacket, you suddenly feel irritated because you're thinking that everyone must be thinking you're stupid for wearing a jacket in hot weather.
What happened to the idea "Do what you want to do, others' opinions don't matter as long as you are happy and content with what you do"?
Another Example: If you learned that a woman you like loves buffed men. Wouldn't you try to exercise and make your body fit even though you hate working out?
It's because people's opinions matter! Especially those people who are important to us and whom we want to impress. An opinion will not only matter if it is given by someone who we think is irrelevant in our lives.
We don't go to a job interview wearing just anything that we want; we always try to abide by the normal standards of how to dress because we want to impress our employer.
We don't go to church wearing whatever we want; we try our best to look as decent as possible.
If the opinion of others doesn't matter, then why do we always say "dress to impress"? Impress who? Ourselves? Nah... We want to impress other people.
This does not only involve the things we do with our appearance, but this is also applicable to the things we do in our lives, our decisions, and our paths. Because we know in the end that it's not how we value ourselves that matters, but it's how others see us.
Even in our daily lives, yes, it's fun for the flesh to do crazy things like drinking, partying, and flirting, but at the end of the day, even though we don't consider how other people see us, we still consider how God sees us in our daily behavior.
At the end of the day, a brother's opinion matters!
