Es un día caluroso, como para no seguir durmiendo y desde un pueblo pequeño como un quiosco de viejo, Gringo se prepara para su viaje; se encuentra en la capital no de cuidad ni de pueblo sino de un municipio por el Orinoco dentro. Muy dentro de la selva navegando el manapiare Gringo se dispone a vivir aventuras inolvidables.

It is a hot day, as not to continue sleeping and from a small town like an old man's kiosk, Gringo prepares for his trip; he is in the capital not of a city or town but of a municipality by the Orinoco inside. Deep in the jungle sailing the manapiare Gringo is ready to live unforgettable adventures.

Vaya ya amaneció, es hora que me prepare iré a Caño Culebra para explorar eso lares.

Prepara comida y ropa, chinchorro y tres guarales por si queda varado, pescar en los matorrales.

He prepares food and clothing, a hammock, and three fishing lines in case he gets stranded, to fish in the bushes.

Quizás saque un bagrecito de los que andan en los barriales.

He takes his precautions and goes out to look for someone because, although he prepared everything, the most important thing that was missing was someone to take him on his adventure down the Manapiare River. Gringo found a man willing to take him to safety, although he was a little drunk. Leaving the mapiare crossing the Orinoco, Gringo, and the pilot, the pilot was a little crazy.

Él toma sus precauciones y sale a buscar a alguien pues, aunque preparo todo falto lo más importante quien lo lleve en su aventura por el rio manapiare. Gringo encontró un man dispuesto a llevarlo a salvo, aunque estaba un poco ebrio o mejor dicho borracho. Saliendo del mapiare cruzando por Orinoco salieron gringo y piloto, piloto un poco loco.

Pasaron horas de viaje, montañas, cerros y piedras; pasaron brazos del rio, pasaron monte y culebra.

Y gringo un poco inquieto mirando a piloto, dice:

¿Seguro conoce el rio? que aquí llevamos horas y creo que esta confuso.

No os preocupe mi pana que el rio conmigo es uno y mientras más bebo caña más siento que me le uno.

Mejor ya no beba más que estamos tardando mucho, ¿realmente es este el camino? Que caño no veo ni uno.

Repite piloto: No os preocupe mi pana que el rio conmigo es uno y mientras más bebo caña más siento que me le uno.

Y gringo no muy tranquilo la hora empieza a mirar. Pasaron veinte minutos pasaron un poco más paso una hora y media y caño nanay nana.

Llegando a un claro de tierra piloto para a tomar y le dice a gringo:

Baje que ya vamos a llegar camine 20 minutos después de aquel samán encontrara tres taparas que marcaran el lugar, luego una cuadra llanera y al pie del cerro aquel conseguirá ese caño que usted quiere conocer.

They spent hours of travel, mountains, hills and stones; they passed arms of the river, passed mountains and snakes.

And gringo a little restless looking at the pilot, says:

Are you sure you know the river? We've been here for hours and I think you're confused.

Gringo salió contento, cámara en mano y bolso amarrado y un pan salado por si acaso el viaje se hacía pesado, llego al viejo saman no fue muy difícil eso y camino media hora un poco más o menos, pero sin hallar sendero ni rastro de las taparas y el cerro parecía vivo pues cada vez se alejaba. Se dispuso a regresar más se fue por otro camino encontrándose un pantano, negro como esos de los libros.

Ahora este es el colmo perdido y embarrialado solo falta que un bicho, me trague de un solo bocado y ni hablar de la plaga que ya están modernisados pues tienen unos taladros que me cargan atolondrado!

Pero ya verá Piloto que de mí no se salvará, porque su reserva de caña me la traje en caleta!

Gringo llegó de nuevo con piloto a la embarcación y piloto que ya sin caña le había dejado el ratón le decía a gringo:

Volvieron de nuevo al rio navegando por lo ancho y llegando a un pequeño brazo metió en seco la embarcación, y por ahí selva adentro es que empezó la acción.

They returned to the river again, navigating across the width of the river and arriving at a small arm, they put the boat dry, and that's where the action began.

The jungle was getting closer leaving them only by gaps and let alone animals that within the panorama they found toads and frogs, limpets, slugs and spiders; snakes for sure there were, and wasps more than a thousand, the plague that was a luxury there were a hundred big and small blue, white mosquitoes and more than gringo was crazy with all the animal world, but that yes there was not a single exotic animal. Just the usual stuff I just mentioned.

But surely you ask if gringo could have made it, but you will know in another story that gringo was far from his final destination because the pilot got lost just as the trip began.

La selva se fue acercando dejándolos solo por brechas y ni hablar de animales que dentro del panorama encontraron sapos y ranas, lapas, babos y arañas; culebras seguro había, y avispas más de un millar, la plaga eso era un lujo había un centenar mosquitos grandes y chicos azules blancos y más que gringo se quedó loco con todo el mundo animal, pero eso sí no hubo un solo exótico animal. Sino lo ya de costumbre que acabo de mencionar.

Pero seguro preguntan si gringo pudo llegar, pero lo cierto amigos que en otra historia sabrán que gringo estaba lejos de su destino final pues piloto se perdió justo al viaje comenzar.
