Last Saturday my sister stopped by for a little visit. I had told her a little while back that I thought there was a mimosa tree seedling in one of my back porch boxes and she said she would like to have it. In the mean time I potted some sweet basil in a pot (LOVE the smell) for her as a surprise. While we were digging the mimosa tree out of the porch box, I also shared some Wave petunia plants that had volunteered to come back in the boxes from some plants that were there last year.
My sister brought me a handful of cut daisies as a surprise. Is there anything not to love about daisies ?? I think not.
I put them in a one of my sweet white vases and put them on my little table at the window. Even with the blinds closed, they shown like they were in a spotlight.
I love grouping fun things I love together and these daisies fit in right nicely.
My sister also brought me some office supplies and bandaids. Her supply at home was overflowing, so she shared. Working at home, I can always use a few more pens, note pads and stickies, so now I'm well stocked.
It's kind of funny, she and I are both on a non-hurried quest to dejunk our homes. We are not shooting for being minimalists, but trying to unclutter and reduce a bit. As our journeys have gone along these past couple of months, we have enjoyed sharing, mostly by email, what we have gotten done or what we are working on or what our next project will be. Occasionally she will offer me something she thinks I might want and I have done the same. I always hesitate before offering as I know she is trying to get rid of "stuff" too, but there has been a thing or two I thought she might really use. We also both know we are free to decline any offer too, so it works out pretty good.
As we talked and did our sharing thing, I offered her one of my old rusty chairs. When I got them I actually sat on them (with a cushion of course), till they got rustier than I wanted to sit on. After that they became plants stands ! They make great plant holders and their curling backs add a pleasant point of interest to the porch group. So... she decided to take one !
Later that day, she sent me a photo of it on her back porch. She had planted some morning glory seeds previously and they were growing in one of her pots. She wants them to climb her deck rails and now with this chair, once they start taking off, they can climb the chair however they please and use it as sort of a ladder to reach the rail. Now didn't that work out well ?? I thought so !
You know I will be sharing more of my flowers and fun porch and yard art things later.

I like many styles of decor. Some years back I wished to do a room in somewhat of a southwestern fashion. I never did it, but I wanted too for a while. During that time, as I surfed the net regarding southwestern decor, I saw the below piece in some photo of some room somewhere and fell in love with it. I searched and searched the net to try to find one for sale, but never found one. A few years later, after I was no longer looking, I saw this one in an antique mall. It had a few very small chips or dings, but nothing at all major. I recognized it instantly and couldn't believe one was actually there in front of me. I scooped it up so fast ! I don't know what it is about it that I love, but I just do ! You can see where he currently sits, beneath the table in one of my previous photos above. My style these days is pretty much eclectic. If I like it, it fits in. LOL ! He's such fun decor !
