You may have noticed a bridge in the back ground of one of the photographs. That bridge is the highest railway bridge in Tasmania from the bottom of the river to the top of the rail. That is what i have been told by a retired train driver from this area. The bridge is also around 200 meters above sea level.
The original bridge that crossed the river is now under lake Rosebery. This one is the needed replacement from the creation of lake Rosebery for hydro power production. This bridge is 139 metres long and of steel construction. Also passes around 58 metres above the river level.
I was able to find out the time frame for the train coming down from Burnie to cross the bridge. As i have wanted to photograph the train on the bridge with the lake spilling as it makes for a rare event. I took another drive out to Bastyan dam and it was well worth it as you will see.
