Hello, beautiful SWC community and all my HIVE colleagues, I hope you're all doing well. It's a pleasure to share my new post with you today. I hope you enjoy it.
Today I decided to resume my plank workout, and as with any routine, I start with a conscious and progressive warm-up. I spend about half an hour mobilizing and activating shoulders, wrists, and legs, as I believe it's essential to prepare the joints before subjecting them to the stress of the exercises. Once this general warm-up is complete, I like to do some handstand holds. This isn't a main part of the session, but rather a way to wake up and activate the shoulders with a more specific stimulus. After holding these positions, I take a break of approximately four or five minutes, which allows me to regain strength before starting the core routine.
In the main part, I begin with an attempt at a straddle plank. After completing it, I rest for three minutes and then try a second attempt, this time using an assistance band. It's important to clarify that I don't focus on holding the position for a long time, but rather on establishing it correctly, with the goal of stimulating muscle memory and perfecting the posture. I then move on to working handstand negatives to tucks, holding the tension for about ten seconds on each repetition. I do three sets, always paying attention to my form. This exercise is extremely useful because it develops strength and control in the shoulders, arms, and core. Isometrics are key in this process, as they keep the muscles under constant tension, which strengthens weak points and accelerates the body's adaptation to the required effort.
After approximately half an hour of intense negative work, I conclude that part of the workout and move on to a complementary but crucial exercise: lean planche scapula pull-ups. This movement directly targets my main weakness, which is the base of the planchette. I strive to achieve no less than fifteen repetitions for two sets, as this range of work is the most recommended for achieving visible results. The focus falls especially on the upper back and abs, two essential areas for maintaining a solid hold. Although I still struggle, I know that strengthening these muscles is absolutely necessary to progress with my plank and achieve the stability I seek.
