Kate is 24 year-old woman, and now sick of cancer. While in such situation, it hurts when she hears criticism from others why she got the disease. Whether she is living an unhealthy lifestyle or even some beliefs that she is being punished because of what she did back then.
Looking back, Kate used to have a happy family until her father died years back. The reason of his death is by saving her when a car is coming as Kate is about to cross the street. She's blaming herself because that time, she's with her headset on, unaware that a vehicle is coming.
Her father's death gave her so much guilt, that even her two siblings are blaming her. They are saying her irresponsibility caused their dad's death. That led to her always staying inside the room. She goes to school, and hears her schoolmates also blaming her for her dad's death. There are times that she doesn't even eat her meals.
Her mother is loving and caring that she never blamed her on what happened. For her, their father died for his heroic act, and she might even do the same if anyone from her child is in such situation. Despite comforting her daughter, she keeps blaming her self.
Time came she stopped attending school. She acquired depression, and became disoriented many times, and became a night hawk, as she also became insomniac. Her siblings eventually forgiven her, regretful of their initial treatment on her after their father's death.
After years of living with depression, she became sickly so her mom decided to rush her to the hospital for a checkup. She's undergone laboratory tests, and found out she has cancer. Her mom's heart crushed after hearing the test. She cannot afford to lose another loved one after her husband died.
But Kate's condition starts to detriorate, she even came to the point that she had some bleeding. In the hospital, she took her mom's hand, and thanked her for everything. She also asked for forgiveness for her lapses, and what happened to her father. After kissing her mom's hand, she released her last breath. How devastated her mom was!
Days after her death, her siblings went inside Kate's room. They saw a painting of her with her siblings, and they're all smiling. At the back of the painting, there's a word in calligraphy which is "Sorry". The two just cried after.
