I was already getting used to college life at that time. Still, I struggled in school because of the outdated programs being taught. While everyone else was already using Microsoft Windows, we were still being taught MS-DOS (Disk Operating System). Based on what my former high school classmates were learning in the same course, other schools were already teaching Windows.
It was also the same year the 9/11 attacks occurred, which affected the global economy. I remember changing the channel on our TV when I saw the live video of the attack on CNN.
Meanwhile, in music, boybands like NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys released their last records before going on hiatus. Britney Spears still did great with her third album, Britney, though its sales were much lower than her previous two albums. Michael Jackson made a return with his album Invincible, which actually sold good numbers but was deemed a flop by many. Linkin Park was gradually rising to stardom that year with their debut album, Hybrid Theory. Alicia Keys also debuted with her top-selling album, Songs in A Minor. However, it was a sad year for music due to the passing of Aaliyah, whose self-titled album sold well posthumously. It was also a challenging year for Mariah Carey, who faced mental health issues and a dwindling career when her album Glitter and its accompanying movie flopped.
It's good to see that the sun is shining today, not at its peak, but it can help to dry the land. We've had strong rains yesterday, and I admit, it scared that it might cause floods. Thank God, it didn't.
We woke up early to witness the sunrise. I actually hoped for sea of clouds but nada. Still good to see the skies start to go brighter.
