Ray Bradbury used to sell newspapers on a street corner for the old Los Angeles "Herald Empress." Everyday he'd carry his bundle of newspapers into the streets, put them down, and begin yelling to those passing, "Get it here...the latest news about..."After about six month of yelling himself hoarse, he caught a cold and could barely talk.

That day he just stood on his corner with his newspapers and didn't say a word. Without telling people the news, he noticed they still came up and bought the newspapers. At the end of the day, he counted up his sales and found that he had sold exactly the same number of newspapers that he sold when he had been yelling his head off. He decided to experiment.

For one week, he carried his newspapers to his regular corner and just stood quietly, selling the papers to those who approached him. Very quickly he realized that sales didn't change a bit whether he yelled about the day's top stories or was quiet about them. From that moment on, he saw that there was no reason to be worried about making a sale. He knew that if he just made them available, people will buy his papers. So he began to relax.

Bradbury was working with the highest life principles. From his newspaper-sale experience, he developed a relaxed attitude, which later carried over into his writing. This seemingly laid-back attitude was a touch of the Golden heart, the well from which he writes his fantastic fiction. It is a good illustration of how one does not need to push when the Holy Spirit is in one's Life.
