I think steemit will improve if "they" add some new features or expand and modify existing ones. So my opinion is as follows.
1 Make the upvote/downvote a slider. You can like/dislike a post in different proportions, a meme is funny, I'll upvote it, but it's not equal in my mind with the YES I'll give a well-written article about peaceful parenting. Same with the negative rating, the difference between not agreeing with the author's point of view, and a total garbage article that has no value. The slider will accurately show how people feel about the article in terms of value.
2 Make two pages in the blog section, one with what you post and one with reposts.I don't want to mix the two together so people don't get what I write and what I like. This makes it simple to follow.
3 Make voting power scarce. One account should not be able to continually upvote with the same reward, the more you vote the less each individual vote should count. This will limit earnings from people that upvote everything without reading anything. One that upvotes one post per day is more important. Voting power should be replenished each day.
4 Make it possible for people to intervene in other people's articles. This should work like this: You can select a passage from the article and comment on it right there on top. Get a little symbol and see all the comments referring to that idea right there as you read it, not buried in the comments. Something like the comments in SoundCloud where you can see at which part of the song the comment was referring to.
5 Make a page with gold content. The content is moving very fast and it will only get faster. The effort people make to select quality content is rewarded in money but not in exposure, long term I mean. You can get the max 30 days, but what about the all-time favorite? We need a page that puts the highest rated content of each month, a number of posts, top 3, let's say. This in time will create a library of the most important things that happened in steemit. If we want quality we need this!
6 Make reputation a factor in the rewarding process. When you upvote your reputation should count 50% and your steem power 50%. More like an inhibitor. If you have bad reputation, your account will get the voting power of one that has half of your SP. This will make people kinder to each other and offer an incentive to be respectful even if you are a whale.
That's it for now !
