as i was doing my not so short cardio routine, i was watching some show on tv.
the format requires the tv producers to enter random taxi cabs and ask for recommendations on the best food they have tried in a restaurant.
they will then proceed to the restaurant and dine in.
pretty simple and pretty straight forward.

the thing i noticed though was that these taxi drivers drive off to a pretty remote place and out of the blue there were restaurants in there.
they drove of in the middle of the forest or on top of mountains just to reach the food.
oh if i were the taxi cab driver i would probably do the same, recommend somewhere far so we can drive far and the meter would just keep on going.
but that was me with ulterior motives.

on the show, they arrive at the place, show some restaurant background details, then serve the food.
they eat, show how good it was, and say good bye.
they did that on repeat for a coiple of times.

now there was one time where they went to a closed restaurant.
the taxi of course felt sad, the sign felt like it was closed for some time.
by coincidence, the shop owner happened to pass by and the taxi driver recognized him.
he must have truly loved the place for him to recognize the owner.
as they dig further, the shop was on hiatus for quite some time; the owner's wife died and he was in mourning.

but he was glad that someone remembered the shop and even recommended it.
and because of that, it strengthened his desire to reopen: apparently he has thought of it for long.
he gave out a day of reopening, he was now determined to do the task alone this time; his wife was his partner in crime but was now gone.
the show then focused on his struggles to reopen the shop; he was a charming man, he even created an account on "x" and posted the news of the shop.
as the show went on, you could clearly see his struggles now that he is alone.
his wife was the manager of the restaurant, she was the entertainer, she talks and knows her patrons; he mostly focuses on cooking.
they have been together since he was 18, never had a child, they focused on the restaurant.
he recalled that his wife has always pushed him to continue the shop till they die, and that is his intent.

all his life he lived with the wife then suddenly he was alone.
no wonder he mourned for a long time, i couldn't blame him.
it must have been so devastating, he must have felt so lost.
but he is back on track.
i couldn't imagine the strength he must have possessed to stand up and continue on living the dream they had.

the show proceeded with the shop finally opening.
he had so much to do until the opening time, he even forgot to buy chopsticks.
i was so scared for him when he opened the door, but i wanted him to succeed.
i'm now invested in this show.
i was so happy when customers came in.
the patrons came back, and they recalled how great the wife was.
they were just waiting for him to reopen and they were ready to support him.

i was so glad, my heart was filled with so much emotions.
i was so happy that i watched the show.
it was so heartwarming, so heart wrenching, a story of triumph.
it made me think.

i'm not wishing for anything bad to happen but if it were you, how long will it take you to re-stand and reestablish?
i know you will, life has to go on and will go on.
but, how long will you need to be out of the mourning?
