Hello, my dear Hivers!
This is the continuation of my previous blog where I’ll be sharing with you the moment when Ate Shella’s baby was finally baptized.
After the mass, we moved seats closer to the altar. At first, I sat at the front row on the left side, but it turned out that the seat was meant for the baby’s mom and the baby, haha! So I moved and sat beside Ate Elai instead.
A few minutes later, we were given white candles with colored paper at the bottom, designed to prevent us from getting burned while holding the candle. Each of us had a candle, and for the girl babies, the colored paper was pink, while for the boys, it was blue.
Then the ceremony began.
Afterward, the baby's father was called to light the candle first and pass on the flame to the godparents. A few minutes later, the candles were extinguished, and the priest announced that the candles would be lit once more after one year, on the anniversary of the baby's baptism. We then gathered all the candles together.
Later on, the baby’s mom was called to go up to the altar together with the baby and the godmothers and godfathers. That’s when the blessing and naming of the baby happened.
After the priest gave the blessing, he went around to the babies and then returned to his place. A few minutes later, the baptism was done! It actually didn’t take very long.
Of course, after the baptism, picture taking is a must!
As soon as the priest announced that the baptism was over, Ate Shella immediately went in front to get a spot at the center of the altar, she really wanted to treasure this moment. It was only then that I realized how many godparents her baby had! I didn’t recognize most of their faces since they were mostly from the city, some were Ate Shella’s high school friends, and others were her childhood friends.
While Ate Shella and the others were busy taking pictures, Ate Elai and I stayed seated and waited for our turn after the rest of the godparents. But since it was taking a while, Ate Elai and I decided to take some solo photos first. You know, I really love it when Ate Elai takes pictures of me, she always knows the best angles and captures my best shots.
A few minutes later, the others were done with their pictures, so it was finally our turn. Here are some of our shots!
Of course, we also took some 0.5 lens group shots of the three of us. Gosh, I really missed this kind of bonding with them. I truly missed these two ladies.
Right after we finished taking pictures, they handed us the certificate of baptism, and after that, we headed home. Our group was actually one of the last ones to leave.
At first, we were unsure how we’d get home, but thankfully, Ate Shella said we could ride with her cousin who also brought a car, and yes, we all fit just fine.
