This was the best of the blooms this year. The tree has been ailing for a while and I have not had the time to tend to it. It is about 16 tall and riddled with galls from insects. Some of the branches still show the burns from being too close to my burning house. Plus the last two years have seen an over abundance of rain which has caused some rotting at the base. Last summer a strong wind pulled half of it over exposing quite a few mushrooms.
Once the flowers are done I will begin trimming out the dying branches which should open up some air to the rest of the roots. It really has grown to big for the spot it was planted in and needs to be trimmed back. My neighbor is all for digging it up and disposing of it.
One of my other projects will be to work on my hostas. This one isn't doing too badly but it's brother a few feet away doesn't like his location.
