The hot flash; inappropriately named as the time duration to the sufferer seems so much longer than a flash. A symptom/byproduct of going through menopause. Such a delightful time of life for a woman. A time when she feels almost like she is going through puberty again but in reverse.
The acne, the declining as apposed to increasing of libido, the mood swings (ok some of us have those our whole lives), night sweats, dry skin, sleep problems, etc all signs of menopause. But it is of the hot flash I wish to explain.
I feel this picture of a teabag dipping penguin is a good analogy. It is if one has been dropped into a boiling vat. The steam rising from your scalp only to be dipped back into that vat again minutes later. The timer on that dipper can be set to different lengths of time so the hot flash may come many times a day to only once in a while.
Only the extreme sense of modesty built into our culture prevents us from stripping down in the middle of a public area. Some days in the midst of a cold winter day when I have had to be out a hot flash has warmed me up. If only they could be called up on demand. Summers on the other hand a bathtub of ice was appreciated.
The human body as wonderful as it is makes hot flashes last sometimes a year or so after menopause to extreme cases decades. Things to look forward tol
