On July 26, Ken Hodler, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) of KeepKey, a maker of bitcoin hard wallets, announced in a statement that it would cease to support the Multibit portfolio.

This decision is made because the engineers who worked in providing support to Multibit announced that they would stop taking care of the portfolio, as it requires a lot of work and has several bugs that cause its malfunction, in addition to the application of SegWit In the Bitcoin network, Multibit would be obsolete.

In May 2016, KeepKey acquired Multibit software to improve the platform, but a little over a year later it was announced that KeepKey did not have the resources to keep the digital portfolio. As a result, the company calls on Multibit users to change their portfolio as soon as possible, as they will stop maintaining it immediately.

n the same statement, Hodler proposes a tutorial to transfer the portfolios of users of Multibit to Electrum. Electrum is available for download at https://electrum.org/#download.

The CTO provided two Youtube links showing how to make the changes: one of the videos teaches how to migrate from Multibit HD, and in another how to do it from Multibit Classic, however noted that users of Multibit HD would have drawbacks in The transfer of portfolios, since the current version of Electrum (see 2.8.3) does not support all the import words of the Multibit HD portfolios.
