Growing up in a very disciplined terrain has not been fun. They call me Amanda. Having to be raised by a strict father and a seemingly simple but strict mother has been a very difficult way to live. When I was a child, my parents taught me the right things to do hoping I would grow up with these things in my veins. I've always been thoroughly dealt with each time I err with the presumption that I act wrongly intentionally.
At 16,when I graduated from sec.school, I was hopeful that I would be free to some extent to live my life not as a bad girl but as a girl who ought to be free to make decisions for myself. This hope was only but archaic and black. My parents rarely allowed me to choose anything for myself. They forced decisions on me and this made me so uncomfortable. Inasmuch as they were trying to teach me the right things to do yet they never gave me opportunity to know the bad things too. This rather made me embrace everything I saw outside the house because I was naive. At 19,I was offered admission to study Theatre arts but my father outrightly refused to allow me proceed. I was subjected to another Jamb which I was offered another admission to study Religious Studies/Education. This admission got my parents so happy that I was not going to be a bad girl in school because I'll be taught the Bible. Prior to this time,I had already nursed in my heart the thought of acting like I want when in school and pretending to be a good girl at home. Finally,I was a university student having the freedom I had always wanted, so I presumed. During my first year in school,I was extremely honest and serious with my academics yet my parents kept feeling I'm bad. On three occasions, my father had checked my school bag to be sure I don't put on odd things at school. This embarrassing act pushed me into daring certain things which eventually ruined my life for though my parents were trying to do me the right yet they did it the wrong way.
