As most of you may know, I have been dealing with depression for some time now. I have had long stretches of time when everything was okay and my depression was under control. But over the last month or so, things have been getting progressively worse.
It all came to a head last Monday when I snapped and wanted to kill myself.
This is not an easy thing to admit but hopefully someone else who is going through something similar will see this and be encouraged to reach out for help.
There has always been a stigma attached to mental illness, like somehow the sufferer is weak or just needs to cheer up. And I think that is why so many people do not ask for help. It was certainly the case with me.
I let everything get to me and now I am paying the price. I have lost Jennifer forever, my finances are in a shambles, my sobriety is hanging on by a thread, and I’m not sure that I can pull myself out of this, with or without help.
I do know this, I will keep on trying to do my best and work on myself to become a better man and a better person.
Currently, I am taking the antidepressant Effexor and I am going to therapy. Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the stress and pressure that I have been feeling over the last few months.
I have always been, and will continue to be, open and honest with you. This is just another chapter in my life.
