A few years ago, I didn't think it was a problem because it wasn't interfering with any of the things I was doing. Of course, I hadn't many things to do, except eat, read, knit, and finally sleep. The only time I was awake was when I was reading and since it was my favorite thing in the world, I didn't mind staying awake.

Growing up, and moving straight into adulthood quicker than just a twinkle of an eye, I have found out, I have a problem. And it's a problem that might affect my choice of work, degree, family, building wealth, etc. Now, I am wishing I could eliminate this one thing in my life and I haven't the faintest idea, how.

Dysania. My condition is more than just being able to get out of bed in the morning, it extends to as long as possible. I can't stay away from my bed for more than an hour or two. I'll start misbehaving or getting unnecessarily upset. I could stay in bed from morning till night and wouldn't feel like it was unusual.

It started getting unusual when people moved into my life and I was expected to leave bed to attend to them or spend time with them. And I felt crazy because I couldn't explain what the problem is. One time, it led me to have a misunderstanding with someone and placed a strain in our relationship.

A lot of times I have wondered how it would feel to step out of the house and go to work. And I cringe at the thoughts because I know I will be restless and only have thoughts of home instead of concentrating at work.

Other times I have the idea to start a business or own a personal office space outside my home so I can always get out more and meet people, interact and be a social being like everyone else. Again, I cringe at the thought that I might waste money, energy, and resources getting the office space or business together only for my body to crave my bed and spoil everything.

A couple of times when I am out with my friends, after a few hours, I'll blunt out that I want to go home. And when I am asked what's waiting at home for me, I'll answer with an awkward smile, ' My bed is calling me.

Truthfully, my bed is always calling me. I always want to be in between the sheets, my head resting on the pillows, with my headset on, while writing, or reading a book. And of course, drift to sleep, even in the middle of the morning.

I guess this is why I love my space, away from other people, trying not to share, because I am scared they wouldn't understand and might start judging. Not that I care about being judged, only that anything that puts a strain on my relationship with others takes me farther away from practicing the social intelligence that I have learned and have been trying to implement.

The most amazing thing about this is that I am more productive at home, alone in between my sheets than any other method I have tried. My body is comfortable in that position, and all my inspiration flows from there. I am currently putting this post together on my bed with my headset on.

Do you know if there's something I can do to solve dysania? Or will I be stuck my whole life in between my bedsheets? Should I start thinking about choosing a career that allows me to stay in bed all day? What are your thoughts?

I invite merit.ahama@merit.ahama, my sleeping beauty to share her thoughts on this week's #kiss prompt.
