I had already explained in my introduction post that my blog name, being 
I wanted iska as a blog name and I was happy when I could have it reflected on my profile.
I choose iska because it got the name of a wanderer. The storyline that brought about the name wasn't one of a wanderer at all.
It is the name of a lady in the book, Iska, written by an African Writer called Cyprian Ekwensi.
The lady wasn't entirely a wanderer but had to move from place to place as well as people to people in the bit to effect a change.
She is compared to the wind, who destroys the old, and brings new changes.
When I read that book, I was still very tiny, most of the words weren't fathomable, so I pictured Iska as a wanderer.
I envied her freedom to be anywhere, be anyone, and do what she wanted as long as it was the right thing to do.
I choose this name as a blog name because I want to be this person who effects changes in the most subtle ways, without disrupting the ways things work.
I also know that I am a wanderer at heart because I find myself drawn to places, people, and trying to change from one form to another, depending on what the situation demands.
Cyprian Ekwensi is one of our foremost authors as Africans. His works are awesome and always tries to touch the core of life, ranging from politics, life, poverty, homelessness, love, etc.
He has written so many books, mostly, novels, short stories, and children's fiction. His work includes, When Love Whispers, The Drummer Boy, Rainmaker, Divided We Stand: a Novel of the Nigerian Civil War, Jagua Nana, Gone to Mecca, Cash on Delivery, etc, and of course, my favorite, Iska
History has it that he died during an operation, and The Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA) had to give him a posthumous award because he wasn't alive to receive it as of the proposed date. He died at the age of 86, may his soul rest in peace.
Cyprian Ekwensi wasn't just an author, he was a pharmacist and a broadcaster. He was married and had five children.
The book Iska has 224 pages and was published in 1996.
