In life, there is always a debate about anything. Like serving a cup of coffee when we dine in at a coffee shop, which one is better? ceramic cup? glass cup? or plastic cups?
Hello everyone,
How are you today ? I pray and hope for all of us, to always be in good health and also given happiness to live all kinds of challenges and problems that we will face in this life. Often times, maybe we complain about one thing that we don't expect or that is beyond our plans but believe me, God knows what's best for us and not always what we want will be good for us. Trust and help each other for good.
This time, I want to participate in the Cinnamon Cup Coffee Community again. I don't want to talk about the coffee shop I visited, or the taste of the coffee I just drank or about the signature coffee recipe that I'm developing for me to share with my friends, that's not all. This time, I want to share a concern that my friend and I feel about one way of serving coffee when we dine in at a coffee shop.
My friend is worried about the way drinks are served in coffee shops today and the coffee industry in general. He is worried about the amount of plastic waste produced by coffee shops, such as plastic cups, pipettes, plastic packaging, and he said that we as coffee lovers are also responsible for environmental damage. One thing that my friend was most annoyed with, when he was dine in at a coffee shop, he was served a cup of coffee with a plastic cup and I seem to be annoyed with that too.
The use of plastic cups in coffee shops is increasingly being used for serving. Plastic cups are considered simpler, more efficient and also strengthen the identity of a coffee brand or coffee shop. The plastic cup used is always transparent, usually a coffee shop logo and a motivational quote are often printed on the cup. It is as if the use of plastic cups can be a marketing idea for a product, such as a running advertisement. I don't mind the plastic cup, I think the plastic cup is very efficient for serving drinks that consumers will take home. Yup, for me the plastic cup is for take away not for dine in.
I am not a person who cares too much about the environment or who takes good care of the earth. The narrative that I am trying to build is not like that, I only regret why coffee shops choose the way of serving plastic cups for dine-in orders. Is it too lazy to wash the glass? or they don't really care and are too confident about their coffee. Believe me, the presentation packaging can greatly affect consumer sentiment and taste suggestions to our brains.
Can the difference in the presentation of coffee in different media cups affect the taste of the coffee? Before answering, what do you think about the three photos of a cup of coffee latte with a touch of latte art below this? This Coffee Latte comes from Tangga Coffee Shop, I took a photo of it while I was sitting and relaxing enjoying a cup of coffee in the afternoon. The coffee shop owner does not use plastic cups for dine-in, he always uses glass or ceramic cups for every drink order. He believes, it is the best for customers and the environment.
A cup of coffee in a ceramic cup, has a very different impression from a cup of coffee in a plastic cup even though the coffee uses the same coffee beans and is brewed by the same barista. When we see the appearance of a cup of coffee in a ceramic cup, all the senses we have such as our eyes, brain and heart will look more comfortable and like it. Especially, when we order drinks for dine in, so we have free time to think. Of course, the assessment will be different when we order for take away.
Coffee served in glass or ceramic cups is the best choice or the best way as a coffee server, especially for coffee drinkers who want to sit and relax in a coffee shop. Ceramic cups can maintain the temperature of delicious coffee and can also provide a better aroma of brewing coffee.
However, whatever media we use for coffee will greatly affect the way people interpret it. If people like plastic cups as containers for serving coffee, we can interpret them as efficient, practical and flexible people. And for people who like glass or ceramic cups as a container for serving their coffee, we can interpret them as people who have deep meaning when doing one goal, calmer. But, from the debate of plastic cups vs ceramic cups, I want to tell you one important thing, strong coffee is not only about the quality of the coffee, but also the combination of the quality of the coffee beans, the atmosphere, the cup and with whom you will be with when drinking a cup of coffee.
