Warm lights welcome you the moment you step inside.
I mean, lighting is probably one of the key factors in creating the coziness of a place. And this coffee shop nails it. If I recall correctly, I discovered Kae Coffee while searching for “cafes nearby” on Google Maps–and it popped up in the results.
Funnily enough, Kae Coffee is located in the neighborhood where I used to pass by frequently while cycling. I just never expected there was a cafe in the area, as the street always seemed pretty quiet to me.
But perhaps I was mistaken haha, because there is a high school and Buddhist vihara nearby, so the target market is likely diverse enough. Kae Coffee has a decent-sized parking spot, and it’s free which is certainly a plus. This photo below shows the entrance–it looks a bit unpromising huh?😂
I probably wouldn't have stopped by this cafe if I hadn't looked it up beforehand, because the exterior doesn't look particularly inviting. However, once inside, I immediately felt the warm atmosphere mainly because of the soft, amber-hued lighting. The space is not large, but it’s cozy enough to relax inside it.
There isn’t much decoration, but the simple ones just give the right amount of touch for enhancing this small space. I also appreciate the distance between the chairs; it doesn't feel cramped and not too close in my opinion, which makes this cafe feel more comfortable.
There’s another room that has similar size–the smoking area, which for some reason looks pretty cozy too.
Kae Coffee has a second floor, and I think part of it has a rooftop-style vibe. I didn’t check it out, though, since I visited during the day; the weather in my city is always too hot to hang out outdoors.
There is a mini bar where they display the selection of coffee beans. Don’t ask me about it, I know literally nothing, so I just ordered an iced cappuccino. Maybe I asked for less sugar, but somehow it ended up tasting a bit bitter for my liking.
The baristas were pretty friendly, and (this is a silly compliment, but maybe not) the way they chatted with one another didn’t annoy the visitors. I mean, Given the size of the space, I consider it a plus.
Because based on my own experiences and several comments online, the conversation between baristas in a small coffee shop sometimes can distract people who are trying to focus.
