Hello everyone and community, how are you guys today? I hope and pray that all of us are always healthy and happy at the end of this year. As I have often written in past posts, I am a coffee fan and drinker. I usually drink three cups of coffee every day, in the past I always drank tubruk coffee (Indonesian style coffee) but over time I also drank various types of coffee drinks.

This time, I want to share a story and give a review about a coffee product that I bought some time ago at a market place, namely Summerfield House Blend from Summerfield Roastery Coffee.

House Blend
If you enjoy a cup of coffee in a cup of coffee, you will usually find the words single origin coffee or house blend coffee. Single Origin Coffee is coffee that comes from a more specific area (even certain coffee farmers), which cannot be engineered because it has certain characteristics and taste characteristics. In Indonesia, there are several well-known single origins such as Gayo - Aceh, Blue Batak - Lintong, Papua, Toraja Sapan, or Flores Bajawa. Almost all single origin circulating are Arabica varieties.

How about House Blend Coffee? In short, house blend coffee can be interpreted as a combination of several single origin coffees or several coffee varieties (such as Arabica, robusta, liberica) to produce one particular signature coffee. Every coffee shop in the world, has a house blend coffee menu, and is the hallmark of the coffee shop.

When the packaging is opened, the coffee beans still emit a strong aroma, and that is a sign that the coffee beans are still fresh and new. I also try to eat and chew the coffee beans directly, that's also one of my ways to find out if the coffee is still fresh or old.

Summerfield House Blend uses a 50:50 composition ratio of Arabica and Robusta coffee, they mix the two ingredients when after roasting, I can see the difference in the color of the coffee beans. The Robusta looks darker and the Arabica is more brownish. There are two popular coffee blending techniques, first, greenbean coffee is blended directly when it is roasted and the second is coffee blending is done when the coffee has been roasted.

How does it feel ? I tried to brew this coffee in two ways, namely using Vietnam drip and also using Manual Espresso Maker (Flair).

Espresso
Basically, every coffee roaster and coffee shop makes house blend coffee as a basic espresso. So whether a house blend coffee product can be said to be good or not is to see how the espresso is brewed.

I brewed this coffee with a Flair (a manual espresso maker) using fine-sized coffee grounds. I used as much as 18 grams of espresso (to make a double shot of espresso). The crema produced by this coffee product is very beautiful and good, it makes my eyes can't blink.

The taste of this espresso is quite unique, (of course bitter) but the after taste of acidity Arabia is still felt. I can taste a bit of chocolate and of course the earthy taste is very prominent. For a cup of espresso I can enjoy it, but I doubt whether this espresso is suitable for a coffee milk base. Because, the Arabica character is still very strong in the after taste.

Vietnamese Drip

To prove and satisfy my curiosity. Next, I immediately brewed a cup of coffee using Vietnam drip with the same coffee beans. I'm more experimenting with using a medium-sized coffee grinder.

The Vietnamese drip is one of the easiest tools to use for brewing coffee. The presentation is very easy and this tool is a must-have for coffee enthusiasts (especially coffee milk) at home and is very useful when we want a cup of milk coffee but we are lazy to go to the coffee shop.

I use 20 grams of medium-sized coffee grounds and water with a temperature of 90 C, don't forget to prepare sweetened condensed milk directly in a transparent cup. One of the fun things about brewing Vietnam drip coffee is watching the drips fall onto the coffee cup. The drops of coffee will add up and create a contrasting color difference between coffee and sweetened condensed milk, such as yin and yang.

I immediately stirred this coffee to make the sweetened condensed milk and coffee mix well. The moment one sip of coffee entered my mouth, I immediately fell in love with this composition. What I feared did not happen, the results were very balanced on my tongue. A very good cup of milk coffee.

My Conclusion
In my opinion, this House Blend coffee product is highly recommended. The price is cheap (not too expensive I think), and we get coffee beans that are always fresh, not old stock or have been roasted for a long time. Summerfiled House Blend has a delicious and unique espresso taste, and to be made into milk coffee it tastes just right and is very suitable. Unfortunately, at that time my fresh milk stock ran out, so I couldn't try this coffee with fresh milk and know the taste. However, I am happy with this product.
