Today I’m continuing with the theme of showing you unfiltered photos of a city, where everyday life sets the tone for an authentic photographic record—one that doesn’t seek to highlight the best aspects of a particular setting, but rather aims to let everyone appreciate the city of Caracas just as it is. It’s a place full of beautiful spots, but where we’ll also find some less encouraging details—yet all of this is part of a common urban reality around the world, where fantasy worlds exist only in our minds.

Caminando
Hoy sigo con la tónica de mostrarles fotos de una ciudad sin filtros, en donde la cotidianidad marca la pauta de un registro fotográfico auténtico, el cual no busca resaltar la mejor cara de determinado entorno, sino que la finalidad en este caso es que todos puedan apreciar a la ciudad de Caracas tal y como es. Un espacio repleto de lugares bellos, pero en donde también encontraremos detalles poco alentadores, pero todo esto es parte de un factor urbano común alrededor del mundo, en donde los universos de fantasías solo existen en nuestra mente.
On that occasion, we walked through the streets of the city’s eastern district, an area characterized by better urban planning, wide streets and sidewalks, tall buildings, and a real estate boom that promises to reshape the capital’s urban skyline in the coming years. Here we enter a commercial district where elegance is the predominant feature, making it the city’s most internationally renowned area; it is here that modernity makes its presence felt in full force, seeking to set standards and follow trends.
En esa oportunidad caminamos por las calles del este de la ciudad, una zona caracterizada por una mejor organización urbana, calles y aceras anchas, edificios altos y un boom inmobiliario que promete redibujar el perfil urbano de la capital en los próximos años. Acá entramos en una zona comercial, en donde la elegancia es el factor predominante, por lo cual es el área más conocida a nivel mundial; es acá en donde la modernidad se hace presente con todas sus fuerzas, buscando marcar pautas y seguir tendencias.
Nature remains a fairly common feature in this area, which I find very interesting, since—regardless of its geographical location—Caracas is a city that still looks green. This is a very important feature, since we’re in the heart of the tropics, and it’s thanks to the trees that we still have a wonderful climate, good air quality, and an environment that lets us walk around easily, enjoying the city and taking pictures.
El factor natural sigue siendo un elemento bastante común en esta zona, lo cual me parece muy interesante, ya que, sin importar el espacio geográfico, Caracas es una ciudad que sigue viéndose verde. Esta es una característica muy importante, ya que nos encontramos en el corazón del trópico y es gracias a la benevolencia de los árboles que aún contamos con un clima estupendo, una buena calidad del aire y un ambiente que permite caminar sin problemas, disfrutando de la ciudad y tomando fotografías.
