Nightmare No. 638

His recklessness led to a decision I regret
Sometimes trying to survive only brings about the end
When he stopped the car I knew we had to leave
They were huddled around me as I tried not to freeze

Stranded in a strange city with no way to get home
These strangers were my sisters
I never felt more alone
Our reflections in the window were closer than they appeared
An officer watching
Feeding my fear

We turned a corner
Found an alley for shelter
The horses in the wall spoke softly to us
They told us of all that was to come
But I saw their masks start to come undone
A reprieve before the fall
Revealed wicked men behind the walls
Iron poles for throats
A puppet's mouth like a saw
Butchering feelings
Bloody and raw

The sisters ran north and seemed to vanish immediately
I tried to follow through the mist but there was nothing to see
I hadn鈥檛 felt this abandoned in a very long time
I thought I heard my father's voice calling to me

I went back to the shelter, but the horses were gone
I was right where they left me as the night turned to dawn
I was warned by a man not to travel alone
Chained in a corner as my heart turned to stone
