“You were supposed to have it all sorted by now” she said, a lopsided smile adorning her face. He just sighed.

He had always been a hoarder. That photo album with pictures from a trip to Nepal? Not even his. It had been in the first apartment he’d rented—ownerless—so he kept it.

And that collection of post-it... his sister had left them behind when she had lived with him that summer. ‘Went job hunting’, ‘Mom called again’ and ‘Pour the milk in a glass for Christ sake!!!’ could be read in them, all scribbled in her overly flourished handwriting.

That colourful vase that seemed too flamboyant for their new living room had to stay too. It had been in their wedding! He wasn’t even supposed to keep it, but it had seemed important. Still did. And he couldn’t even think about parting with the kid’s boxes...

“Who would want these things anyway?” he whined. A last attempt to make her change her mind.

“This is happening, George.” She said as she went out of the garage, the emphasis in the ‘is’ making it sound final. Ugh. Who had given her the dreadful idea of a yard sale?!

A little uninspired maybe, but a 5 minute freewrite nonetheless!
