At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic started, we were so afraid eating outside or even ordering to go, so all the cooking were landed on my shoulder. I had to cook twice a day for my family. Working eight hours every weekday and cooking lunch and dinner every day, I told the kids that I need a break sometimes.

Don’t get it wrong that I don’t like cooking, I enjoy cooking when I have time. But cooking every day is too much. After I kept nagging that I was out of ideas what to cook, my little daughter said she could cook for the family sometimes.

I cooked the traditional Chinese dishes that I learned from my parents, but I also used my conventional oven to bake a spareribs. Seafood is my favorite foods, so I bake a lobster trail or pan fried a crab once for a while. The kids didn’t know how to enjoy the seafood and they mostly ate steak only. These delicious seafood dishes were eating by my husband and me.

My daughter liked to check out the dishes from YouTube before she cooked. She loved to cook pasta and noodles for us. The one for me usually had shrimp on it, and the one for her sister and her usually had meat. She loved to decorate the dishes with different colors. The food she cooked so delicious too because she followed all the steps that the YouTuber did.

It is been almost two years since the pandemic started. Although I am no longer cooking as much as before, now I enjoy cooking more at home. I realize home cooked foods are healthier.
