Dank Corona und den Lockdowns war ich seit gut einem Jahr nicht mehr in George Town. Gab ja nicht viel zu tun dort. Restaurants haben ihre Speisen nur zum Mitnehmen angeboten und die meisten Geschäfte waren ohnehin geschlossen oder zumindest nur zu bestimmten Zeiten auf, mit extrem limitierten Öffnungszeiten. Ungewohnt in einem Land, in dem jeder sein Geschäft 24/7 geöffnet haben kann.
Thanks to Corona and the lockdowns, I haven't been to George Town for a good year. There wasn't much to do there. Restaurants only offered takeaway food and most stores were closed anyway or at least only open at certain times, with extremely limited opening hours. Unusual in a country where everyone can have their business open 24/7.
Jetzt lief das Event schon seit dem ersten September 2021! Und soll bis zum ersten Januar 2022 laufen. Nun, die Skulpturen, waren aus Papier/Pappe gestalten. Weshalb, als ich dort war, einige Teile der Skulpturen schon so richtig zerfleddert waren. Willkommen auf der Insel, wo manche Tage nur Starkregen und extreme Winde kennen.
Now the event has been running since the first of September 2021! And is scheduled to run until the first of January 2022. Well, the sculptures, were made of paper/cardboard. Which is why when I was there, some parts of the sculptures were already so tattered. Welcome to the island, where some days know only heavy rain and extreme winds.
Bei der Freiheitsstatue war ich mir jedoch nicht sicher, ob es die Witterung war oder eine künstlerische Darstellung des Zustandes der USA.
With the Statue of Liberty, however, I wasn't sure if it was the weather or an artistic representation of the state of the US.
Das vereinigte Königreich, die USA und jetzt irgendetwas mit Afrika. Von da aus dann ab nach Asien, China.

Die für die chinesische Kultur wichtigen Fabelwesen hatten einen extra Platzt direkt an der Straße.
The mythical creatures, which are important for the Chinese culture, had an extra place directly at the street.
Saudi-Arabien und Indien fand ich langweilig, darum gibt es davon keine Bilder :D Leider kein Deutschland mit dabei. Die Grundidee war wohl von allen Kontinenten etwas dabei zuhaben, und das haben die Veranstalter ganz gut gemacht. Ich werde einen weiteren Teil folgen lassen. Dort zu sehen sind die Skulpturen bei Nacht und beleuchtet. Bis dann!
Saudi Arabia and India I found boring, so there are no pictures of them :D Unfortunately, no Germany. The basic idea, i think, was to have something from all continents, and the organizers did that quite well. I will let follow another part. There you can see the sculptures at night and illuminated.
