Aunque los unicornios son de las principales figuras que aparecen como referencia en amigurumis en cualquier búsqueda simple en la web, esta es la primera vez que me encargan uno, para lo cual pedí que me indicaran si deseaban un unicornio atropomorfo como suelen hacer la mayoría, es decir aquellos que tienen una figura parecida a la humana porque se posan sobre sus extremidades inferiores solamente o si deseaban un amigurumi mas realista, es decir, que el unicornio asemejara la figura de un caballo que se sostiene en sus cuatro patas, la cliente me dijo que lo prefería de esta última forma lo cual me pareció muy genial pues tenía tiempo deseando intentarlo, otra cosa que me pidió es que usara tonos pasteles para las crines.

Although unicorns are among the main figures that appear as a reference for amigurumi in any simple web search, this is the first time I've been commissioned to make one. I asked if they wanted an anthropomorphic unicorn, like most people make—those with a human-like figure because they only stand on their lower limbs—or if they wanted a more realistic amigurumi, one that resembled a horse standing on all fours. The client told me she preferred the latter, which I thought was great because I'd been wanting to try it for a while. She also asked me to use pastel colors for the mane.

Para este proyecto usé doble hebra de hilo acrílico y ganchillo de 2.25mm, comencé por las patas con hilo color trigo para los cascos, hice 8 puntos bajos en un anillo y 8 aumentos, trabajando hasta la hilera 13 con 16 puntadas, hice una inclinación hacia atrás en las patas con aumentos hacia atrás y disminuciones hacia adelante pero conservando el mismo número de puntadas, en las patas delanteras hice la inclinación un poco mas abajo para que quedara el resto mas recto mientras que las patas traseras la inclinación la hice mas pronunciada.

For this project I used double strands of acrylic yarn and a 2.25mm crochet hook. I started with the legs using wheat-colored yarn for the hooves. I made 8 single crochet stitches in a ring and 8 increases, working up to row 13 with 16 stitches. I made a backward tilt on the legs with backward increases and forward decreases, but keeping the same number of stitches. On the front legs, I made the tilt a little lower so that the rest would be straighter, while on the back legs, I made the tilt more pronounced.

Para el cuerpo hice 14 cadenas de base y una hilera con aumentos en las esquinas, luego 5 hileras de 6 aumentos ubicados en las esquinas para obtener 60, hice una hilera para unir las patas y continuar con 76 puntadas, luego cada tres hileras hice 8 disminuciones por dos veces. Seguí con 3 disminuciones por hilera solo en la parte de atrás hasta obtener 45, cosí 23 puntadas y deje libre 22 para continuar el cuello.

For the body, I made 14 foundation chains and one row with increases at the corners, then 5 rows of 6 increases located at the corners to obtain 60 stitches. I made one row to join the legs and continued with 76 stitches. Then, every three rows, I made 8 decreases twice. I continued with 3 decreases per row only on the back until I obtained 45 stitches. I sewed 23 stitches and left 22 free to continue the neck.

Para la cabeza hice 6 puntos bajos en un anillo y 6 aumentos por 2 hileras, luego 3 aumentos por 6 hileras y 4 aumentos en la siguiente hilera, hice 40 puntos bajos por 10 hileras y luego 8 disminuciones por 4 hileras para cerrar.

Para las orejas hice 4 puntos bajos en un anillo y 2 aumentos en la primera hilera, 3 aumentos por 2 hileras para obtener 12 y dos hileras sin aumentos, cosí de forma plana sin relleno doblando la oreja a cada lado de la cabeza. Para el cuerno hice la misma cantidad de puntadas que para las orejas pero con hilo color trigo y tomando solo el lado de atrás de las puntadas en cada hilera, rellenando y cosiendo de forma redonda a la frente.

Para las 12 crines hice 36 cadenas de base, 1 punto bajo y 1 aumento por 18 veces. Para los 8 mechones de la cola hice 30 cadenas de base y sobre estas 1 punto bajo y aumento por 15 veces.

For the head, I made 6 single crochet stitches in a magic ring and 6 increases for 2 rows, then 3 increases for 6 rows and 4 increases in the next row. I made 40 single crochet stitches for 10 rows and then 8 decreases for 4 rows to close.

For the ears, I made 4 single crochet stitches in a magic ring and 2 increases in the first row, 3 increases for 2 rows to get 12, and two rows without increases. I sewed them flat without stuffing, folding the ear to each side of the head. For the horn, I made the same number of stitches as for the ears but with wheat-colored yarn, working only in the back loop of each stitch in each row. I stuffed it and sewed it to the forehead in a rounded shape.

For the 12 manes, I made 36 chain stitches, 1 single crochet, and 1 increase 18 times. For the 8 tail strands, I made 30 chain stitches and then 1 single crochet and 1 increase 15 times.
