Greetings, dear community! Something truly wonderful for me at this stage in my life is seeing how certain characters from my favorite childhood series remain relevant to children today, while adults—who are also still fans—share these same interests with the new generation. One of my personal favorites when I was a child was Pikachu. I remember that, 27 years ago, my birthday cake featured this character—back in a time when cake decorations were entirely hand-drawn, long before the many options we have today existed. All these memories came flooding back to me today because I made a Pikachu amigurumi; I absolutely love how it turned out, and I hope you do too! 😊

Proceso / Process

The materials I used are thick acrylic yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook. I started the body from the bottom up, beginning with 6 single crochet stitches in a magic ring, followed by 6 increases over 2 rounds to reach a total of 18 stitches. In the third round, I worked 5 single crochet stitches, 1 puff stitch, 6 single crochet stitches, 1 puff stitch, and 5 single crochet stitches. I then worked two rounds of 18 single crochet stitches, followed by another round identical to the third—that is, one that included 2 puff stitches—to form the arms. For the final round of the body, I made 6 decreases, resulting in 12 stitches.

I continued the head by adding 6 increases over 2 rounds to reach 24 stitches, followed by 2 rounds without any increases; then, I worked 3 decreases over 2 rounds, followed by 18 single crochet stitches over 2 rounds. I attached the eyes, embroidered the nose and mouth, stuffed the piece, and finished the head with 6 decreases over 2 rounds.

For the ears, using black yarn, I worked 4 single crochet stitches into a ring, followed by one round with 2 increases. I then switched to yellow yarn and worked 6 single crochet stitches for 3 rounds. I made both ears the same way and sewed them onto the head. For the tail, using yellow yarn, I made a foundation chain of 6 and worked 2 rows of single crochet stitches. Next, I worked 3 single crochet stitches for 2 rows, then chained 2; I worked back along those chains, followed by 3 single crochet stitches for 2 rows. Finally, I switched to brown yarn and worked 2 single crochet stitches for 2 rows. I also used brown yarn to embroider the stripes on the back and sewed on the tail.
