Until recently, I went on a lot of business trips. I always took my camera with me to snap a few photos. I often managed to do this before work or after returning to the hotel, and frequently during work as well. This particular cat photo shoot took place under those circumstances.

Do niedawna miałem bardzo dużo wyjazdów służbowych. Zawsze zabierałem ze sobą aparat żeby porobić trochę zdjęć. Nierzadko udawało sie to przed pracą lub po powrocie do hotelu a często również podczas samej pracy. Ta właśnie kocia sesja powstała w takich okolicznościach.
I took all these photos on April 20, 2017, at a farm where we were filming footage for a TV show. I don’t remember which village it was, but that doesn’t matter—farms like this exist everywhere.

Wszystkie zdjęcia zrobiłem 20 kwietnia 2017 roku, w gospodarstwie rolniczym gdzie nagrywaliśmy materiały do programu telewizyjnego. Nie pamiętam jaka to wieś ale to nieistotne, takie gospodarstwa istnieją wszędzie.
There were a dozen or so cats; I couldn’t count them all. What’s more, the farm owner didn’t know how many there were either. It was clear that the cats weren’t exactly hungry, but was that because they were being fed by humans, or were they foraging for food on their own by hunting birds and rodents? I don’t know. They weren’t spayed or neutered, so they were breeding unchecked, and the only factors regulating their numbers were stray dogs, birds of prey, and cars—under whose wheels these poor creatures were dying. But nobody seemed to care.

Kotów było kilkanaście, nie byłem w stanie ich policzyć. Co więcej, właściciel gospodarstwa również nie wiedział ile ich jest. Widać było że koty raczej głodne nie są ale czy to był efekt karmienia przez człowieka czy samodzielnie zdobywały pożywienie polując na ptaki i gryzonie? nie wiem. Nie były sterylizowane więc rozmnażały się bez kontroli a czynnikami regulującymi ich ilość były swobodnie biegające psy, drapieżne ptaki i samochody pod kołami których ginęły te biedne stworzenia. Ale nikt tym sie nie przejmował
Unfortunately, the situation described above is an everyday reality in rural Poland. Things are slowly changing, but too slowly. In cities, there is greater awareness, and more people care about animal welfare. In rural areas, unfortunately, reports of improper animal care often go unaddressed.

Niestety, opisana powyżej sytuacja to codzienność na polskiej wsi. Pomału się to zmienia ale zbyt wolno. W miasatch świadomość jest większa, jest więcej osób dbajacych o dobrostan zwierząt. Na wsi niestety zgłoszenia niewłaściwego trzymania zwierząt często pozostaja bez reakcji
