There was a lot of hype when Terminal 4 Changi was finally opened to the public. At that time I had no idea what was so great about it. I did hear that it was supposed to the state of the art in technology.
So I did asked Mr Goggle & this is what I found out :
• Fast And Seamless Travel (FAST@Changi)
• Options such as self-service check-in; and automated bag drop, immigration clearance and boarding
• Will be a two-storey, 25-metre-high building with a gross floor area of 225,000 square metres.17 stands will be available for narrow body aircraft, 4 stands for wide body aircraft
Pretty impressive, I have to say. Anyhow, it was finally for me to decide if it was really what it was so magnificently publicized.
I made a business trip, flew AirAsia which landed at T4. Naturally since its arrival I had no time to do an airport tour. Only on my day of departure, I thought ... Why not go to Changi earlier & walkabout. There's always lots to see if not for a new airport.
Boy! Was I impressed. The self check in was fast & easy. Reminded me of Vegas. Seemless & no hassle. That certainly reduced the manning of airport attendees. What I like most was the Baba Nyonya little section. Using what i think seemed to be holograms, a musical show. The people looks so real.
Not unless if you're standing right in front, no one would've guessed it. So thumbs up to Singapore Government for making a difference. I won't be surprised that eventually all the other terminals will follow suit in terms of the technology like T4.
