Finally our souther India trips coming to an and end and today we took a flight to our home. I have been to many airports, but this time Bangalore airport going to be added first time in the list. Basically I rarely travel to this part of India. Like many passengers, I am too fascinated to visit different airports. I have heard a lot about Bangalore airport. It was built with advances state of the art technology. So it made me too curious to explore the airport. But my luck does not 3nded well. My flight was scheduled from Trrminal-1 while I heard a lot about Terminal-2. So my curiosity took a set back. But my endeavor to explore new airports keep me excited. At least Terminal 1 going to added in my list.
Bangalore's airport is named as "Kempegowda International Airport" to honor 'Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda I'. He was the 16th century chieftain and visionary who founded the city of Bengaluru in 1537.
After travelling in cab for more than 2 hrs we finally made it to the airport. For once i was bit doubtful about making to the airport in time due to heavy Bangalore traffic. But the second lag of my cab journey was smoother and we did not comes across much traffic. My can entered the airport vicinity. There were few checkpoint and cops were checking every cbbs that was entering. I can see the ATC tower right in front of me. It was towering high and set up right in airport front gate. This is unusual, as most of the ATC towers were built right across the pathway. The road making it to T-1 were very spacious and clean.
After clearing the security gate we entered the giant hall thar make up the airport. To be very honest, I find the airport too crowded than any other airport. May be this is limited to T-1 scene. There were many passenger occupying the sitting area. The chairs were in Rd and appears to be very comfy. But the crowd made me to look for it. There is hardly any empty left. Few people were sleeping on chairs as they were in a railway platform. But the like any other airport the ambience does look stunning with some architecture design inside.
The presence of crowd stopped me from clicking much picture. I still had few hours left to board my flight, so I started taking a stroll down the hall. There is a big hall and many shops and restaurants were operative all over the place. But the actual airport vibes was missing. Airports exist outside of normal everyday life. Time feels paused, and societal rules temporarily fade away, giving people a psychological break from their routines. But here I was kind of strolling through a super market.
To my surprise, many of the shops that were operative was selling liquor. There many bars selling much costlier drinks than usual rates. I checked at few and find mine local shops much better alternative. But here the numbs of bars were much higher than any other airport. I guess, Bangalore serves as a major tech and business hub, the airport handles a vast number of corporate and international flyers who expect premium amenities, specialized whiskey / cocktail bars, and informal networking spaces. And this why these bars were very crucial for them.
There were few vending machine too, installed at various places. There were sweets and cakes counter too for general fliers. But again the rates ford each items sky rockets at airport. This is where few passenger get better deal in the premium lounge credit card. For me I was more interested in exploring the new airport.
One noticeable aspect of Bangalore airport is that they have taken care of greenery within the airport complex. There were few sitting g points which were well decorated with plants and flower. They look good and add a different charm to the places. People seek blessings in disguise resting under this set up.
I find myself lost in the long airport walk. It was much bigger space and many things at each corner. After a long walk, it time to take up the flight. I have taken the necessary airport v8bes for my memory. Soon, I went ahead towards boarding my flight. The aerodrome too was too hige and spacious. There were many aeroplanes parked at each point. Mine was assigned at parking lot 36.
It was cool long walk around the airport. And the times flies past very fast. I wish I got more time to explore the new place. Still Terminal - 2 is still pending to be explored which were in news for many reasons. Hope to get a chance sooner.
