Prompt#1
From time out of mind, Marjorie had led the fight for an alcohol-free county. She knew it was a difficult path when she took it years ago. There were many challenges faced but she was determined to fight it off. To prove to those politicians that there’s more to just making immediate cash from this county.
No one understood as to why this little town could’ve flourished under such rough circumstances. The nightclubs, bars and any forms of entertainment hated her; hated her guts. Some would’ve said that she was wishing for a bullet through her head for making such drastic actions & implementing it in this county.
Marjorie knew better. It was all for the better. They’ve got to see it. They will soon and eventually. As she looked out from her window, the local council office seems so small as compared to all the other high rise buildings around it.
Her time is soon to be coming to an end. Tomorrow we will know. Tomorrow the results will come. Tomorrow….
Prompt#2 Interference
There was a knock on the door. It was soft at first. Marjorie didn’t hear it. Then it got louder. Sounded more like a loud banging sound. The kind that you get when one is using the entire body’s energy .
She turned and he stood there as if it was the first time they were meeting each other. Many emotions & questions came up. But none, mattered at this moment. It all didn’t matter anymore.
What had happened to them all those years was too much to bear. Why was he here ? What else can he do now for her. Everything is clear now more than ever. He had more than once interfered with her plans to clean this county out. And more than once, she had succeeded to win him & his politicians over. Was there a purpose to this sudden visit ? To see her loose it all. He seemed confident this time around. Maybe, just maybe he’s got something under his sleek jacket that he ain’t revealing to her.
Prompt#3 The Conflict
“Marjorie. What a pleasant surprise to see you here. I would’ve thought that you’ll be at the courthouse by now” So, he does know something that I don’t. I looked straight at him. The conflict between them was indeed very obvious & none bothered to keep it hidden.
The ferocious hatred that exist started 22 years ago in this little county. Charles & Marjorie were young and childish. Too vain about themselves to shown concern over others. Then, it happened on that very night. Everything changed for both of them, for their families, for their loved ones, for this county.
No one could’ve forgotten that night. A fire broke out in Future Valley High. It was broadcasted that it was terrorism. But, Marjorie knew & so does Charles. They were responsible for what had happened. 200 lives were taken that night. 200 lives were locked up in the school & they could not get out. The screams, she could still hear them.
Both Charles & her got it easy due to their family connections, plus the fact they were still teenagers. The regret will never pass. The truth will never die. They were KILLERS of 200 lives.
They went separate paths. Marjorie towards cleaning the county & Charles becoming a politician. Two very distinct paths.
