Just how long will it take for the objects on the photo to become fully obsolete?
In EU the purchase of electric cars increased by 49%, still total sales are accounting for 1.1% of all new cars sold in EU; it is expected to be 2-8% by 2020-2025. There are some side effects of transferring to electric cars – GPS is a must, otherwise you can come to a still stand if not finding a recharge station on time. The increase of these cars will trigger the increase of electrical power consumption; EEA estimates that if the use of electrical cars reaches 80% by 2025 it will require additional 150 GW of electricity for charging them. Experts estimate that self-driving cars will decrease the number of cars in use by 90%. The not so apparent thing is that also the number of car mechanics will decrease as they will have to transfer from repairing diesel/gas cars to electric cars. Nevertheless, even electric cars will one day become obsolete as their operating time will run out and they might become stacked one upon the other just like those on the photo unless some other more efficient methods of recycling will be developed.
