Taksim Square and Nearby Historical Sites 馃殜 My Monthly Author Challenge! Day #28

The fair organized by StudyExpo, where I got information about study abroad opportunities, was held at Taksim InterContinental Hotel. You can access my article here where I shared the details of the fair and the varying education costs according to the countries. While I was in Taksim, I thought it would be impossible not to walk on Istiklal Street and when I left the fair, I enjoyed Taksim Square for a while.
The hotel was located next to Gezi Park. So I walked through the park to reach the square. This ornamental pool in the middle of the park caught my attention and I wanted to take a photo of it. But I wasn't alone, two other kids were also very interested in this ornamental pool馃槄馃槄
After passing the pool, Taksim Square was right in front of me. A few minutes later I got the best shot.
I took a photo of the Taksim Republic Monument, the symbol of Taksim Square, from this angle. This is the symbol of Taksim. And almost everyone knows this place because one of the exits of the Taksim Metro is right here. From here you can go to Istiklal Street, the famous shopping street with hundreds of shops and dozens of arcades. Another street is called S谋raselviler, the other direction leads to Gezi Park and the roads for car traffic are around here.
The beginning of Istiklal Street, this street is more than 1 km long. It is frequented by tourists and is a very popular place.
Another street is S谋raselviler Street, this is the entrance part of this street, I briefly visited both sides.
I saw Selvi Restaurant on S谋raselviler Street. My father used to work here a long time ago, he always talks about it in his memoirs. I saw this place for the first time and took a photo of it for memory. I didn't go inside, but I saw various home-cooked meals being sold.
Then I took the subway to go back. This patterned tile in the subway looked different. It had wave and sailboat motifs. Most of the subways in Istanbul have different designs to add color. I went from Taksim to Sishane, so I went one stop further. And here I saw a historical building.

Historic Tunnel Phenicular Line. After London in World History, it was built in Istanbul in 1875 and still continues its services between Karak枚y and Beyo臒lu.

Taksim'e gelmi艧ken 陌stiklal Caddesinde y眉r眉memek olmaz diye d眉艧眉nd眉m ve fuardan ayr谋ld谋臒谋mda biraz Taksim Meydan谋'n谋n tad谋n谋 莽谋kartt谋m.
Otel Gezi Park谋n谋n yan谋nda yer al谋yordu. O y眉zden meydana ula艧mak i莽in park谋n i莽inden y眉r眉d眉m. Park谋n ortas谋nda bu s眉s havuzu ilgimi 莽ekti ve foto臒raf谋n谋 莽ekmek istedim. Ama yaln谋z de臒ildim burada gezinen iki ba艧ka 莽ocukta bu s眉s havuzuyla epey ilgiliydi馃槄馃槄
Havuzu ge莽tikten sonra hemen Taksim Meydan谋 kar艧谋mdayd谋. Bir ka莽 dakika sonra en g眉zel kareyi yakalad谋m.
Herkesin 枚n眉nde foto臒raf 莽ektirdi臒i, Taksim Meydan谋'n谋n sembol眉 Taksim Cumhuriyet An谋t谋'n谋 bir de bu a莽谋dan 莽ektim. Buras谋 Taksim'in sembol眉d眉r. Ve hemen herkes buray谋 bilir zaten Taksim Metrosunun bir 莽谋k谋艧谋 tam olarak buradad谋r. Buradan 陌stiklal Caddesi denen y眉zlerce ma臒aza ve onlarca pasaj bulunan 眉nl眉 al谋艧veri艧 caddesine gidebilirsiniz. Di臒er bir sokak S谋raselviler denen bir sokakt谋r, di臒er istikamet Gezi park谋na gider ve ara莽 trafi臒inin ge莽ti臒i yollarda buran谋n etraf谋ndad谋r.
陌stiklal Caddesi'in ba艧lang谋c谋 bu cadde 1 km'den fazla uzunlu臒a sahip. Turistlerin u臒rak yeri ve olduk莽a pop眉ler bir yer.
Di臒er bir sokakta S谋raselviler soka臒谋, burada g枚z眉ken bu soka臒谋n giri艧 k谋sm谋, ben iki taraf谋da k谋saca gezdim.
S谋raselviler soka臒谋nda Selvi Restoran'谋 g枚rd眉m. 脟ok eskiden burada babam 莽al谋艧m谋艧, hep an谋lar谋nda anlat谋r. 陌lk defa buray谋 g枚rd眉m ve an谋 kalmas谋 i莽in foto臒raf谋n谋 莽ektim. 陌莽eriye girmedim ama 莽e艧itli ev yemeklerinin sat谋ld谋臒谋n谋 g枚rd眉m.
Daha sonra geri d枚nmek i莽in metroyu kulland谋m. Metrodaki bu desenli fayans farkl谋 geldi. Dalga ve yelkenli motifleri vard谋. 陌stanbul'daki metrolar谋n 莽o臒unda renk katmas谋 i莽in farkl谋 dizaynlar mevcut. Taksim'den 艦i艧hane'ye ge莽tim yani bir durak ilerledim ve burada tarihi bir yap谋y谋 g枚rd眉m.
