For over 2000 years, a debate has been raging on who Jesus is. Some religions believe he is one of the gods. Some say that God has no son but for us as true believers, the bible settles the issue with absolute finality. John 1:14 says that “the word became flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth”. The biblical evidence is overwhelming. Nothing gives ones a sure reliable evidence like proofs.

When Jesus declared to the Jews that “before Abraham was, I am; he was simply confirming that what was manifested upon the earth 2000 years ago had been concluded in the mind of God even before time began. We celebrate Christmas because God sent us His greatest gift in the form of a baby. The God of the entire universe took on humanity and was born in a lowly manger. God could not make Himself any greater to impress us so He made Himself smaller to attract us. Deep within the darkness of the womb of a virgin, God was manifesting in the flesh one cell at a time. Christmas is not about a baby but about the deity of God. Jesus was born, He died and rose again that we might live (this is salvation). Until we grasp the message of Immanuel (God with us), we cannot fully understand the essence of Christmas.

What does Immanuel mean?
It means God is with you. Your God is not far away or aloof. Even when you don’t feel His presence, He is right there. Since the day you gave your life to Jesus Christ, you will never be alone because God said, “He will never leave you nor forsake you” As we approach Christmas, it’s a difficult period for some people. Some people might have been bereaved during the course of the year and they have to stay alone this Christmas without their loved ones. You know in the midst of rejoicing in church some people are going back to an empty house. Can I assure you that God is with you? Now if that is your case, I want you to remember that God is with you. He knows all about your pain. He has walked where you now walk. He will be with you even when you might have done the silliest thing that should push Him away.

Immanuel also means God is for you. God has forgiven you and He will judge every accusation against you. This is not a license to sin, it only release you from the burden of guilt and regret. He took your sin and put it on Jesus Christ. He took His righteousness and put it on you (2 Corinthians 5:21). The word Immanuel is translated “With us God.” In “God with us,” we are assured of the company of God but in “with us God”; we are assured of the partnership of God. That means God accomplishes things with us (Jeremiah 51:20-23)

The day you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you became new and everything changed. The day you were saved, God moved you into Christ and moved Christ into you (Galatians 3:27). Nothing can touch you without going through Christ. You are not just a non-entity floating about on planet earth; you are house for the Lord Jesus Christ and you will share in His glory.
