Hello Steemians,
I Hope you all are having a wonderful day. And I Just survived a Monday. And I am telling you nothing motivates a man from corporate world, as Monday does.
So funny thing happened today on my way to work, I was late. I was late not because of traffic or some other issue but I was late because of my Smartphone came with a snooze feature. I am telling you these phones are not smart. If they were, they would display the snooze button but will disable be the touchscreen feature. Until the user gets up and searches for the 16digit deactivation code. Luckily boss wasn’t there so I made it through the session easily. But as the day moved forward I got busy to such a point that I had to get off from my desk walk to the HR, just to confirm the final date of my performance review and my available leave count. As I was walking down the stairs my phone went off another alarm, and weird thing was I didn’t know what it was for. So I did the only exercise that I do every day. Hitting the snooze button and setting the future date for the alarm.
And I am suffering because of it; just like I was once addicted to cigarettes, I am addicted to procrastination. Yes, I have a bad case of me. Yes very soon Oxford might replace the word procrastinator with @inuke. Didn’t understand a thing I said? Let me make you understand. You see, I am a Lazy person who always thinks there is still time to get things done. Let it be investing in the Bitcoins or any crypto-currency, or getting a certification, or calling my cousin for wishing his 14th birthday (who is 30 now and getting married next month, And I haven’t spoken to him yet, It was like.. Wait a long story for some other day. I should really be focusing on getting this blog done TODAY) or for basically everything. I have been like this for I don’t know how many year now. So whenever I procrastinate anything I know I am putting off things for later and my mind is setting up an alarm at subconscious level. Just to notify myself that there is still thing pending to do. And when you keep on putting off things on to do list which you haven’t even started yet, is taking one step closer to your ALARMageddon. Yes, I started noticing things like during crucial meeting something as stupid as getting your doorbell fixed or as critical as moving up the schedule of an important project will popup.
Now let me paint a picture for you. Imagine yourself living in home full of clocks your bedroom, Kitchen, Halls, Bath, dinning, garage and basement everywhere… and they are going off at the same time and the only thing you can do I switching off the alarm one by one. How much time do you think it would take for your brain-clock to pop the cuckoo? Scary isn’t it. And the worst part is we don’t know how many alarm we have setup by procrastination things.
All we can do now is stop setting up more alarm. And follow the motto of the overpriced shoes manufacturer who always get the star footballer player for their ad campaigns.
And I am still wondering about the damn alarm which went off in this afternoon.
Special thanks to my brother @jogesh0906 to make me understand things the way they are.
