Everyone wants to be successful in life, and wanting to be successful is natural. Success doesn't come easily. Some people think that one person needs to work hard if they want to be successful, and some people say that one person needs to be lucky enough to be successful in life; otherwise, hard work is nothing. What is the truth, actually? Can working hard continuously ensure a person becomes successful? Or can luck be enough for it? For better understanding, let me draw simple examples of exams.
Let's consider that there are two students in the same school. One of them went to school on a regular basis. He prepared his lessons regularly and took notes on important topics. At home, he used most of his time for his study. On the other hand, another student didn't go to school regularly and he spent most of his time playing and using his smartphone. It's natural for him not to be prepared for his studies. And when the examination arrived, both of them attended the exam. The first one, as well as the good one, prepared himself for this examination and the second one, one, to give you some just reading a few topics. Who do you expect to do well in the exam? Isn't it natural to expect that a good student to perform well in the exam as well as to be successful in the exam?
I know some of you can ask, what if the question were not common for the good student, and that could be topic among those few topics the idle student read. I mean, seriously? That's ridiculous to me. Still, I am considering that it can happen only because of luck. The hard-working students were unlucky, and the idle ones were lucky. Even if it happens, it could be only for few cases, which can be considered as exception. An exception cannot be considered as example, because it happens in rare cases. I know that there can be many uncertainties like accidents during the time of the exam, and it's totally dependent on luck.
I know that there can be many things where luck plays a crucial role, but most of the time luck favors those who are hardworking and do their work in a disciplined order. Just because of a few exceptions, we cannot consider that luck is enough to make anyone successful. In my opinion, success is the combination of both hard work and luck, but not in equal ratio. I think that 85 to 90 percent of success comes from hard work or disciplined work, and 10 to 15 percent can be played by luck. So, I believe that when someone becomes successful in life, it's because of his hard work.
Besides, I think that when we say someone becomes successful because of luck, it’s like we are not acknowledging the effort the person made to be successful. I know that everyone's thoughts of everyone are not the same and many can disagree with them, but I think their thoughts can’t change my opinion. If anyone becomes successful, we must acknowledge their efforts. It’s not that luck was on their side. It’s like they made the situation where luck favored them.
