We have one that washes and re-uses little plastic pellets as the litter. And my goodness the technical issues. Some of it's very smart, and some of it is intentionally dumb.

Like needing a specific brand fluid to wash the litter pellets with and refusing to work without it. Which makes me hate late-stage capitalism even more.
