Yeah the firearms laws are a bit more Byzantine here in Aus. Gotta do a safety course, take a test, have members of the community(not household) who've known you for 5+ years and are willing to testify such in court, and not have broken any of the huge laws in any of your life.

There's also photo ID and safe storage laws that would have the "87 feral hogs" crowd -ha- up in arms.

I think our laws are a melding of "common sense" and utter paranoia tbh.
