El galáctico es confundido con un canino por un humano con discapacidad visual a bordo de la nave que se dirige a la estación Amalgam. -- Anon Guest
[AN: Translated by the internet: The galactic is mistaken for a canine by a visually impaired human aboard the ship heading to Amalgam Station.]
The Human had a white cane, but they could also clearly see some things. They could not, evidently, see clearly. They were using pet manners on her.
"Hello, pup? Where's your people, pup?"
Yen said, "I am my people. Passenger, not pet. Though I do understand the confusion."
The Human felt out the braille on the seat handle before sitting down[1]. They were already turning red. "Sorry. This is a mixed flight and... you know how Dereggers can get about things."
"I've seen more than a few." Yen imitated the high-pitched yap of a free-roaming knomira[2], "That dog is allowed to have a seat, why should my precious have to go into hold?"
Working or not working, those eyes knew how to roll. "For me, it's, 'Why do they get special treatment? How do you know they're not faking it?' I would think they'd be just as upset with the special treatment."
"Egocentric, selfish, entitled riders," Yen scoffed.
"It's okay. You can say 'Dereggers'."
"Oh, some of them are Havenworlders trying to weaponise frailty. Some of them are Deathworlders trying to combine their threatening presence with a sense of persecution and victimhood."
"That would be something to watch," smiled the Human. "When I get my eyes back."
[1] Because accessibility is the norm in my future.
[2] So named because they claim to "know my rights" so often that the words become a mash.
