It was one thing to learn that time travel was possible. It was another to learn that the Professor's time machine looked and sounded like a Winnebago. A rather arthritic Winnebago that was two coughs and a significant sneeze from total collapse.
The third thing that San Germain was wrapping hir head around was that there was a LOT of history to learn about. Including the fact that some things were named that way more than once.
"There's a second primate revolution?"
"There's five," said the Professor. Once again, he was up to his armpits in time machine parts, twiddling with stuff and tweaking the mechanisms. "One's when humanity started on its dark path, the second's when the Bonobos had had enough of their horseshit and attempted war. That went around a couple of times. And then there's the fourth one where they won. And the fifth one where they lost. Sort of."
"Wait. What?"
"It had to do with the creation and deployment of the Ar-GUN-naught -a sort of dreadnaught tank thing- and the Bonobos go-to conflict resolution strategy."
San knew that one. "Make love, it's just more fun?"
"Exactly."
"So your ballpark for when we are is a seven-hundred thousand year gap and we should probably lay low just in case we're banned from -ahem- public intercourse."
"Of either variety, yes," said the Professor. "Check the omniceiver. See what's playing and how."
San groaned, retrieving the clunky thing from its storage space. It had to be clunky. Time travel meant that receiving transmissions was a clunky exercise. Having the equipment necessary to interpret telegram, radio, television, digital transmissions as well as picking up the internet had its troubles.
Good news, there was television.
Bad news, the only station San could find was playing I Love Lucy.
"Great. Not narrowed down at all!"
