Transit stations are great for musicians seeking to earn a few extra Minutes[1]. Just pull up at a post or a chair and play with a convenient container on the floor. Those who enjoy what they have to offer give according to their whims.
It's very good for teaching new players the link between skill and earning a living.
The regulars have started calling this particular transit stop Harmony Station because of all the musicians who come through there. Those of a more professional nature give hints and tips to those just beginning, often for free. Both because the student is poor and the master has more than what they need, and also because the master remembers being a student. Sometimes, the entire station is alive with the sound of harmonic improvisation.
A violinist working on their fingering. A bagpiper playing only on their chanter[2]. Someone with a hand drum. Make that several someones with different variations on "hand drum". A flautist having a form of musical duel with a penny whistle. An old cogniscent with little better to do with their day set up camp with their Hinkelhorn. A lyre, a harmonium, and a keytar band together to create the melody.
What came out as a direct result was not a tune everyone knew. Or a tune anyone knew. Yet. It was sure to get around because those who did not play... recorded.
It was a public performance, so it was publicly available. Therefore, any earnings it made went straight to public benefits. Like nutritious meals for the hungrier artist who made their way via Harmony Station.
This is the Galactic Alliance. You are guaranteed to get what you need.
[1] The Alliance uses time as money. It's a resource that can't be hoarded, everyone is paid according to their labor, and paid fairly, and once it's spent it can't be regained.
[2] This is a legit thing that can be done. Take off the bit that the playing happens at, the chanter, and play on that without the rest of the bagpipes.
