Being a human that moved into an underground city of teufellen and other races that other humans treat as unwanted, I thought I was going to be mistreated as they are above ground. But they have treated me more kindly, more humanely, than any of my own race ever have my entire life. -- BKF

Here, away from the sun, I am just a skilled crafter of fine objects. Silver, gold, copper... I will make things from wood if need be. They don't care what I look like.
In my old existence, up on the sunside as they call it, I was Ugly Meila. The woman nobody could want. Club foot. Hare lip. Strawberry birthmarks in weird patches all over. And a constellation of obvious moles. There's facial hair, too. I'm told that nobody can help how they were made, but they sure as hell should be able to help how they act.
And yes, I do spend some time journeying to a sunny patch once a week so the lack of sun doesn't poison my blood. How do you think Sunsday got its name? Other than that little inconvenience, life in the Everdark is shockingly easy.
For a start, nobody gives a shit how you look. There's Deep Elves, Dark D'varuv, Deep-down Gnomes, just to name the Human-like creatures down there naturally. Hellkin find themselves down there because there's so few other places for them to exist in peace. The one I found was named Outcast. I'm told there's many more.
Having seen the wildlife of the Everdark, I have no desire to go travelling. If you saw it, you'd want to stay in a safe place too.
As a note - always tip your courier. They take great risks to get your package there at all.
The devilborn are friendly after they warmed up to me. They're understandably suspicious about sunsider folk. Even ones that the fates had mauled in the womb. I minded my own business about them and treated them like regular folk. It didn't take long for them to return the favour.
Then there was the flirting. I never expected it, so it stunned me.
My first reaction - "You're pulling a prank on me. Nobody ever wanted me."
The Hellkin named Appreciation let the pain of that statement reach her eyes. She rallied well. "I'm sure I'll be the first who's proud to be nobody." She winked, finished up the business of the commission.
She came back the next day with offerings and her flirting.
Over the next four weeks, some of the Deep Elves, one of the Dark D'varuv, and a lot of the Hellkin flirted with me. Male, female, and every variant in between.
To say I was surprised was an understatement.
They really appreciate skills, and the skilled, down here. Most of the flirting is about how clever my hands are, and how they'd like to feel them. And, if I must be terribly honest, it worked on me.
They could all make my face match my birthmarks.
Long story short, I'm in a polycule of very randy bedmates. But they also love me and look after me. To think, I came down here to avoid people staring at me. I never thought they'd be staring appreciatively. Or jealously at my partners.
