Your heart is locked up in a fortress behind many bars
Stronger than the prisons built by the Russian tsars
Incapable of attachment, the only thing that lingers
Is the love that slipped between your fingers

Do not let the love slip between your fingers
Hold on, hold on, do not let it fade into cinders
Relish it
Let it take you on a journey
Let yourself be taken

Like a shaken soda can, emotions all bottled up
Spiraling addiction your vindication, now bottoms up
Let it be known, the contrition that killed the thinkers
Is the love that slipped between your fingers

Do not let the love slip between your fingers
Grasp tight, grasp tight, do not let it wither with the winters
Savour it
Let it take you on an adventure
Let it take you far away

To a distant land where your dreams have yet to reach
Where pastures green surrounded by silvery beach
But the only cure for the heart’s flames that lack timbers
Is the love that slipped between your fingers

Do not let the love slip between your fingers
Trot on, trot on, do not let go for we are all sinners
Cherish it
Let it take you back home
Let it take you where you belong
