I guess pronouncing Finnish like Afrikaans could be much closer than pronouncing it like an English speaker. But as I actually don't speak Afrikaans, I can't be sure, but if you want, you can check out the pronunciation from here: https://www.readspeaker.com. There's one Finnish option, just add periods so it won't be all one sentence.

Unfortunately there's no Afrikaans but is Dutch pronunciation the closest? That's what I used with your haiku. (For some reason the Finnish pronunciation of your poem written in Afrikaans isn't totally correct, die, kat and hy is pronounced wrong but for instance nie and miskien is like a Finnish speaker would pronounce it.)

I wonder, would a poem of both languages mixed sound fun, Finnish and Afrikaans. Or perhaps English too. Rhyming would be an absolute nightmare because Finnish is pronounced so differently so no childish nursery rhymes. Although if there are rhyming words between Finnish and Afrikaans, it would be fun to discover those.

But from the looks of your haiku, it would be really hard because no Finnish word ends with an f or a g but then again plurals have a t in the end.
So kat rhymes for instance with sukat = socks.

in die boom sit kat
jaloissa valkeat sukat --> Oh no, 8 syllables! Haiku + rhyming is hard.
