Where It All Began
My name is Ini-odu Sunday Bob. I come from Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, but i grew up in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area all ino Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Eastern Obolo is a riverside area that became an important part of my childhood.
However, I enjoyed spending time with my little peer group. They spoke different language, and being around them gave me the opportunity to learn some of those languages. Looking back, I realize that those childhood experiences quietly shaped part of who I am today.
My parents were both civil servants were often transferred from one place to another. Because of this, I didn't always have the experience of growing up with both parents together in the same place. It was part of my childhood that taught me to adapt to different situations.
THE LITTLE BOY AND HIS DREAM
As a young boy, I wasn't completely sure what profession I wanted to pursue. I remember mentioning different dreams - becoming an army officer, a politician, or a history/art teacher.
Eventually, I lost interest in the first two. But something about art remained in me.
As I grew older, I began thinking more seriously about the kind of person I wanted to become and the kind of life I wanted to live. That was when I realised that I wanted art to be more than just something I enjoyed, I wanted it to become a lifelong journey.
I wanted to keep creating art even when I became old.
That decision gave me a clear direction. I went on to study fine art in higher institution, with the goal of becoming a lifelong artist and entrepreneur.
Having a clear purpose made learning much more enjoyable for me. I worked hard, researched, practiced and studied art when ever I could. I wasn't too concerned about whether people believed in my dream. I believed in it, and that was enough to keep me moving.
Even today I still enjoy drawing, researching, and learning about art.
But that was only the beginning. I had a dream but I had no idea where that dream would eventually take me.
