Finally... it's here... my follow-up post about Coco, our rescued dog from Australia's most northern tip of Queensland, Cape York Peninsula.
Miracle dog Coco has grown from a tiny tick riddled, skin over bone puppy to a vibrant, strong, happy, healthy pup.
I can't believe the difference myself looking back at the photos. This dog has grown so much, strengthened her muscles and bones immensely and is unstoppable!
You can read my initial post below about how we rescued Coco from the streets of Umagico. @ingridontheroad/cocos-rescue
After a vet treated and checked her out in Atherton, Queensland she got the all clear. This little BIG pup is just amazing and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She has already saved me from a snake by deliberately stepping between the snake and myself. She gives love and joy to those people she meets and leaves a lasting impression on their lives.
A few snap shots below of our brave girl who has endured starvation, beatings, kickings, neglect and abuse, and yet she has risen above all of this and shown the world what living is all about. She loves life, the great outdoors, all animals (except beetles... she eats them) and people.
She has gained 12 kilos since we found her in October 2022. She was barely 2 kilo when we scooped her up from the street.
She loves the beach, any water really and is a strong swimmer.
Unfortunately in cattle and sheep country we have to keep her on the leash. She loves the sheep and saying hello to the cattle. She doesn't hurt or startle them.
One lucky dog I reckon!
I guess there are thousands of animals on this earth that are suffering and need rescuing, however... one can only do what is possible in each situation. We are permanently on the road so rescuing this little puppy was a major upheaval because she is no longer 'little' ... big paws spells big doggie so I am expecting big change as time goes by.
In the 3 months we've had her she has improved astronomically and her strength is surpassing mine 🤣
Dog training is definitely a major challenge every day but with plenty of patience and effort we'll get there yet.
Photos and written work is my own.
